Laser-based hair reduction is an alternative to shaving and waxing. Laser-based hair reduction gives a lower-maintenance skin surface; the effect varies with hair and skin type.
What is laser hair removal?
We use the Initia laser from Asirox, an advanced diode laser developed for effective and safe hair reduction on both light and dark skin types. The laser emits precise pulses of light that are absorbed by the pigment (melanin) in the hairs. This is converted into heat, which damages the hair follicle and destroys future hair growth. Laser treatment can also give a significant reduction in inflamed hair follicles and ingrown hairs, which many people find troublesome.

How does the treatment work?
The treatment starts with a consultation where we assess skin type, hair type and your goals. For the treatment to be effective, it is important that there is enough melanin (pigment) in the hair follicles.
We recommend that you avoid waxing/epilating/plucking the area before and during the course of treatment, as this affects the hair's growth cycle. Before a laser treatment the hairs must be shaved, and you must avoid self-tanning before treatment.
We cannot treat areas that are covered by tattoos. During the treatment itself the laser head is passed over the skin while the light pulses heat the tissue enough to destroy the nutrient supply to the hair follicles. Most people find the treatment only slightly uncomfortable, as we have cooling in the laser head and also use ultrasound gel during treatment.
For best results a course of approx. 6–8 treatments is recommended, at regular intervals – since hair grows in different phases and the laser only affects the active hair follicles.
After the treatment
After treatment the skin may feel a little warm, like mild sunburn. This is normal and usually passes within a very short time. You will receive guidance on skincare and precautions after each treatment. The most important thing is to avoid the sun, as laser treatment increases UV sensitivity.

Before and after treatment
General advice for you who are about to have, or have had, this treatment.
After a consultation you can get access to before and after photos. Download Beauty Medical from the App Store and we will send you a password.
Before treatment
- Shave the area the day before or on the same day – do not wax, tweeze or epilate for 4 weeks before.
- Avoid sun, tanning beds and self-tanning for 2–4 weeks before and after.
- Come without cream, deodorant or perfume in the area.
- Tell us about medicines that make the skin sensitive to light and about herpes (for the lip area).
After treatment
- Cool the area if needed; use a gentle, fragrance-free moisturiser.
- Avoid sun, tanning beds, sauna, hard exercise and hot baths for 48 hours; use sunscreen.
- Do not wax/tweeze between treatments – shaving is fine.
- The hairs “fall out” within 1–3 weeks – this is normal.
This is normal
- Redness and small swellings around the hair follicles for hours to 1–2 days.

- Blisters, burns or pigment changes that persist.
