Laser hair removal

As you have probably noticed, we have FINALLY introduced laser for hair removal!
Laser hair removal is a widely used treatment. We use the INITIA laser, which has a new technology that gives a safer, faster and less painful experience for our clients.
There are many different types of laser machines available on the market today, and we wanted to choose one that suits all skin and hair types. INITIA also has an integrated IceTip™ technology that reaches temperatures of -8°C for extra comfortable treatments.
Laser hair removal works by the laser light being absorbed by the dark pigment in the hair shaft and carried all the way down to the hair follicle/root. The hair roots are thus destroyed by the high temperature of around 70-80°C.
It is of course the case that the treatment's effect is influenced by various factors. Number 1 is that pigment must be present for the laser to be able to heat the hair shaft and destroy the hair follicle. This means that the treatment will not work on completely white hair where no pigment is present. If you have light hair that still has some pigment, however, the laser can be set to a function that is able to treat these as well.
Who can be treated?
In principle almost anyone can be treated with laser, but some are better candidates than others. Skin colour, and the thickness, density and colour of the hairs are important factors that influence what results you can expect and how many treatments you need. As mentioned, the laser needs pigment in the hair to be able to locate and destroy the hair follicle, which means that if you have completely white/light hair, the effect of the treatment is limited.
Contraindications: Pregnant women, those with a skin disease in the relevant area and those taking medication that makes the skin sensitive should NOT be treated with laser.
How many treatments do I need?
The number of treatments you will need varies depending on the area, and hair and skin type. But in the vast majority of cases you need anywhere from 4-10 treatments for an optimal result. The time between treatments is 4-8 weeks, depending on the area. You and your therapist agree on this together.
The laser only works on hair in the anagen phase, that is, the growth phase. It is therefore important to maintain a recommended treatment course to achieve the best result in the shortest possible time. Approx. 14-21 days after treatment 60-80% of the hairs will fall out, and only then do you see results. Hairs that were in the resting phase during the treatment will then start to grow out, and then it is time for the next round.
